On the 50-yard Joshua Dobbs TD, just a complete defensive breakdown by the #Commanders
The rookie Joshua Josephs gets faked amongst other defenders. Great play by Lions.

Commanders rookie Antonio Williams has a chance to be one of the more productive non-first round WRs this year. Twitchy route runner with downfield burst and underrated ball skills.

Quan Martin with his 2nd INT in two preseason games this August. This one comes back in the building where he had a Pick-6 to help beat the Lions in the playoffs in 2024.

Notes
The upsides of the preseason game:
- The defense was able to create pressure and turnovers for the second straight game.
- Quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis looks much more comfortable in this offense than Sam Hartman.
The downsides of the preseason game:
- The offensive line with Jayden Daniels at quarterback did not look good giving up pressure on all three plays, including a sack.
- The defense gave up too much yardage on run plays, including a 50-yard touchdown run by Joshua Dobbs, where several players were out of position.
This week saw a number of injuries pile up and keep over 15 players out of the Lions game. The biggest injury being to Newton who had potentially season-ending surgery.
The offensive line issues increase concerns about how well will the offense perform to start the season. The front offense may have to trade for a better center if Nick Allegretti cannot make it to the field. Julian Good-Jones and Matt Gulbin are not the answer at center for week 1.
Two players who most likely only have a shot at the practice squad, Jaden Bradley and Nick Nash, led the receiving group in this game. Both has nice catches on deep throws, Bradley for 30 yards and Nash for 55 yards.
Antonio Williams continues to look like the real deal with 3 catches on 3 targets for 41 yards. Jacoby Jones also had 2 catches on 2 targets. Problem is the team has a logjam at wide receiver behind Terry McLaurin, Stefon Diggs and Williams who are the locks at this point. The big question will be how many wide receivers and tight ends Washington keeps on the 53-man roster.
The defense has shown promise even without several starters on the field. It looks like the hiring of Daronte Jones was the right move. He put players in position to succeed in his defense.
Next up, a scrimmage and last preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.
