First practice in pads!
CB Mike Sainristil broke up consecutive plays in the red zone today– both throws to the corner in a last-second drill. Good eyes; good positioning.

Just left the practice facility after the 4th session in front of the media. Some thoughts.
🏈 1st day with pads. Always ramps up the intensity and makes for a fun day.
🏈 Sonny Styles was a monster today. By far his most noticeable practice. He was awesome against the run.…

#Commanders TE Chig Okonkwo on what he has learned from watching Jayden Daniels throughout camp:
“With him, it’s really easy. You just got to be, where you’re supposed to be and he’ll find you with that accurate ball” pic.twitter.com/hw7BztGCem

Mike Sainristil with ANOTHER PBU in the endzone. Back to back plays. He’s been playing outside the most today, but definitely moving around as is everybody. #Commanders https://t.co/i51K5YVzdS

Day 7 – Tuesday, August 4th [Fan Attendence Day]
Better late than never. Observations from Practice 5, today's workout:
🏈 Daniels keeps getting better and better. Looks way more comfortable. Offense has given the defense more of a run each day seemingly.
🏈 Bill has caught the ball really well. They are also asking him to…

Luke McCaffrey with a DEEP grab right between Mike Sainristil and Jeremy Reaves. Ran a 40ish-yard seam route from the slot. DIME from Jayden Daniels. #Commanders
— Josh Taylor (@JoshTaylorFB) August 4, 2026
#Commanders RB Bill Croskey-Merritt on the defense:
"I love this defense… never seen a defense like it… the fronts are crazy, the scheme is crazy."#RaiseHail

Jayden Daniels opens up 11-on-11s in the hurry up offense. Finds Chig on a deep seam route in traffic. About a 20 yard completion. Absolute dart. #Commanders

Another day in the books at #Commanders Training Camp. 🏈
My initial reactions from today:
• McCaffrey had the best day among the WRs. 👀
• Stevens moved ahead of Moody in the kicking battle after not missing a single kick
• Several bad snaps have me even more concerned… pic.twitter.com/4nKFCbjmhm

Drew Stevens has been perfect on his FG attempts today. Made all 3 in an 11-11 session and all five in the FG session. Jake Moody missed three total — two in the FG session and was wide right from one approx 50 yards to cap one 11-11 session.

Day 8 – Wednesday, August 5th [Fan Attendence Day]
Practice No. 6 from Commanders Camp. Observations.
🏈 Rained off and on but the temp was pleasant. I'm sure it felt good for the guys on the field. Football weather.
🏈 First home run ball of camp for a TD. Mariota blooped a shot in to Jacoby Jones who beat a DB on a double…
— Grant Paulsen (@GrantPaulsen) August 5, 2026
Kain Medrano is showing a bit of flash today. You see the speed, he had a really nice rep in coverage against Sinnott where he knocked him off his route and redirected him, and now he just came screaming up for a pressure on Mariota
— Full Command (@FullCommandShow) August 5, 2026
Luke McCaffrey is having another good day. Just had a nice touchdown in the back of the endzone from Jayden on an over route. Got both feet down too. #Commanders
— Josh Taylor (@JoshTaylorFB) August 5, 2026
Sonny Styles closed practice with a big pop on Jacory Croskey-Merritt in a goal-line drill. Was hard to see from our vantage point so saw Jeremy Reaves in the scrum and celebrating so wondered if he made the pop. “No, that was all Sonny,” he said.
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 5, 2026
Dan Quinn said Jeremy Reaves has earned what he’s getting at safety. Squarely in the mix to start/play a lot. “We could use a lot more Jeremy Reaves,” Quinn said.

Day 10 – Friday, August 7th [Fan Attendence Day]
Notes from the 7th Commanders' training camp practice:
🏈 Stefon Diggs day. He took the first rep in 11-on-11 and ran a short route to the sideline uninvolved in play. Light day of work. Did take a rep in 1-on-1. They're ramping him up.
🏈 Not a surprise but he moves well and…

Great job by Treylon Burks here. Not an easy catch. pic.twitter.com/8fFZ2uQPGt

Practice notes:
🏈 Diggs got his feet wet. Out in 11s a smidgen. Ran past a CB in 1 on 1 work
🏈 Amos practiced. Looked spry.
🏈 Stevens 8 of 8. Moody 5 of 7
🏈 Way held for both
🏈 Fred Davis II with an INT

Day 11 – Saturday, August 8th [Fan Attendence Day]
Jake Moody was 4-6– missed from 33 and 47 yards. Always wide left. Drew Stevens made all 6 of his attempts.
They kicked from 33,38, 43, 47, 52 and 57 yards. Stevens has been more consistent throughout camp.

#Commanders LT Laremy Tunsil walking off with athletic trainers after getting dinged in 1-on-1s vs. Odafe Owen. Looked like a stinger maybe. Dr. @BaldyNFL here with me concurs.

Dan Quinn indicated C Nick Allegretti (calf) and TE John Bates (hamstring) probably won’t be ready for next week’s joint practice with the Dolphins.
He did say that he expects CB Trey Amos to be ready for Week 1 though. Amos was activated off PUP yesterday and is ramping up to…

Day 8 wrap up from Commanders camp.
Boys and girls, I’m all aboard the Antonio Williams hype train. pic.twitter.com/1doEsqmXqc
— Scott Abraham (@Scott7news) August 8, 2026
Injuries
Laremy Tunsil – torn triceps, likely needs surgery and may miss most of the season
Trey Amos – didn’t last long, trainers took him into the facility in the middle of his workout, supposedly cautionary
Notes
Wednesday, August 12th will be the first joint practice with Miami in Ashburn. Will be a good early test for the players prior to the preseason game.
Lots of hype around Antonio Williams, he has been flashing early in camp. Footwork, route running and good hands, he could be one of the surprise players of the draft.
I think that it is getting to the point where the kicker job will go to Drew Stevens (or his to lose), especially if he kicks well in the preseason games.
The secondary has been looking better in camp but “practice ain’t games” as they say. The key will be generating a pass rush, the talent in the secondary is there this year.
Signing Diggs seems to have had a big perception impact on the media about the Commanders, making it seem like signing him we’ll get an extra win or two this season. One player does not make or break a season, except for maybe Daniels. Diggs will have a big impact, if healthy, on production and also showing younger wide receivers how to play the position.
Terry McLaurin will be happy this year, with Diggs and Chig Okonkwo on the field, teams can no longer focus on stopping McLaurin. Diggs and Okonkwo have the ability to turn mistakes by defenses into huge chunk plays for Washington. One-on-one, Terry is one of the best in the NFL in contested catches.
The season just got even more interesting.
