Jayden Daniels in his 2024 rookie season threw for 3,568 yards which surpassed Robert Griffin III 2012 record of 3,200 yards. Daniels ranks 15^th in best passing yards rookie season. Justin Herbert holds the NFL record with 4,336 yards which he set in 2020.

The team record was set by Kirk Cousins who threw for 4,917 yards in 2016 season. Like him or not, he was probably the best passer of the Dan Snyder era.

The record is held by Joe Theismann threw for 25,206 yards in 12 seasons. He broke the record set by Sonny Jurgensen of 22,585 yards in 1984. Sammy Baugh places third with 21,886 yards.

Did we mention that Jayden Daniels had a really good rookie season? He set the record with 25 TDs in 2024 which broke Griffin’s 2012 record of 20 TDs.

This record is held by Sonny Jurgensen, who had 31 TDs in 1967 season where he was named to the Pro Bowl and 2^nd Team AP All NFL team. Cousins and Joe Theismann are tied for second with 29 TDs in a season.

This is one quarterback record still held by Sammy Baugh, who threw for 187 TDs in 16 seasons. In second place is Jurgensen with 179 TDs and Theismann is in third with 160 TDs.

One rookie record Daniels did not break was Griffin’s 2012 season passer rating of 102.4.

Sammy Baugh set the record for highest passer rating in 1945 with a 109.9 rating. Baugh was named to most 1^st team lists in the media. Along with high rating, Baugh had a 70.3% completion rate, threw for 1,669 yards with 11 touchdowns.

Selecting quarterbacks who played at least three seasons or more with team, Kirk Cousins had a passer rating of 93.7 over 7 seasons.

We’re back to Daniels breaking another Griffin record during the 2024 season. Daniels rushed for 891 yards, breaking the Griffin 2012 record of 815 yards.

Most rushing yards by a quarterback belongs to Daniels with his 2024 performance.

Most quarterback rushing yards in a career was by Joe Theismann who rushed for 1,815 in 12 seasons. Most of Theismann’s yards came from scrambling but he did run the occasional quarterback draw. Griffin is second with 1,480 and Daniels is third with 1,169 yards.

A less stellar record Jayden Daniels set in the 2024 season was most interceptions by a rookie with 9 INTs. Given his and the team’s success that year, we’ll forgive him this record.

My dad loved Sonny but hated Norm Snead, who set the season interception record in 1963, his last with Washington before being traded to Philadelphia for Sonny, with 27 INTs. Snead has 71 interceptions in 42 games with Washington. Snead had a real thing for the opposing team.

With a long career with the same team, it is not unexpected that Sammy Baugh holds the most inceptions in a career with 203 interceptions. Interestingly enough, Theismann and Baugh both played in 167 games for Washington the most for a quarterback, but Joe threw 65 fewer interceptions.
