Free Agency Tampering Period Alerts

We will update this post as former players reportedly leave and new players reportedly start signing with Washington. Remember that deals are not officially finalized until the league year actually opens.

Departures:
Antonio Gibson looks to be leaving for the New England Patriots on a 3 year deal.

Virginia native Kendall Fuller is moving on after six non-consecutive years in D.C.

Curl heading to LA, good luck to Kam.

Arrivals:
Dan Quinn has signed two Cowboys to come with him to D.C.

Center Tyler Biadasz, 26 years old, started 53 games over his first 4 seasons. Has been a reliable player the last three seasons where he played 98%, 97% and 93% of offensive snaps.  Reports are that he’s signing a contract of 3 years and a 30 million dollar value.https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1767246815332557209

Dorance Armstrong, a 26 year old defensive end out of Dallas, will sign ,for 3 years, $45 million. He played a lot of the heavy end role that Quinn likes to use in his 4-3 under look. He was a rotational piece in Dallas, playing about 1/2 of the defensive snaps the last 2 seasons. It will be important to learn whether he can take on a heavier workload in Washington.

Linebacker Frankie Luvu comes over from the Panthers for a 3 year deal. Luvu will be 28 next season in his 7th year, including 3 with Carolina and 3 with the Jets. He had 125 tackles last season, including 66 solo. Luvu also fits the 4-3 Under formations for Quinn, as he’s had 13.5 sacks in his last 2 seasons as a starter. He would be well suited to line up on the edge and rush the passer frequently.

Austin Ekeler the prolific veteran pass catching running back signs after playing with for the Chargers since he came into the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2017. Ekeler had over 50 catches a year for the last 5 seasons and gives Washington’s future quarterback a reliable target out of the backfield. At 29, he’s a stopgap solution for the offense.

Though Ekeler is older he’s an upgrade as a 3rd down back. Here’s how he and Gibson compared the last 2 seasons:

Year Player Rushing Att Rushing yards Receptions Reciving yards
2023 Ekeler 179 628 51 436
2022 Ekeler 204 915 107 722
2023 Gibson 65 265 48 389
2022 Gibson 149 546 46 353

Guard Nick Allegretti, a backup guard from Kansas City. Allegretti started one game last season and three games in 2022.

Kicker Brandon McManus. It looks like Alex will be buying a Kicker jersey as the former Temple star and super bowl winner comes to DC on a one year deal.

The team has come to terms with 49ers backup Defensive End Clelin Ferrell.

Backup QB signing, Marcus Mariota.

Washington has reportedly signed DE Dante Fowler, who spent the last 2 seasons in Dallas:

Bobby Wagner is now with Washington, a move we all guessed at a few weeks ago.

Crowder re-signs, giving the team some depth at slot and a decent return guy.

Jeremy Chinn signed this morning as well a 1 year deal for 5 million.

Here’s a cute story from Tyler Ott the new snapper.

Anthony Pittman will be added as LB depth and a special teams player.

The team’s bringing back Obada

The Sam Howell trade.
