It’s time to update the Redskins Mock draft tracker with the post-Combine mock draft results.

With 136 mock drafts tracked, the breakdown for the Redskins’ projected pick is as follows:

Rank Player Pos School % Taken Notes
1 Chase Young DE Ohio State 89%
2 Tua Tagovailoa QB Alabama 4.4%
3 Some sort of trade 4.4%
4 Joe Burrow QB LSU 1.1% Has Young going to Bengals
5 Derrick Brown DT Auburn 1.1% No clue

The overwhelming choice from the pundits is still Chase Young; however, with the recent comments from the Redskins staff regarding the team’s quarterback situation and the reported rumors around Tagovailoa, more of the pundits have selected the Alabama quarterback as the choice for the Redskins. Also, a larger number of draft pundits are now predicting a trade between the Redskins and another team.

Trade Breakdowns

Many realistic scenarios are in play for Redskins should they see fit to trade the number 2 pick.  Here are a few of plausible:

Miami at #5: If the Redskins acquire this pick, these are the players that the 136 mock drafts project as the most likely selections:

  • Jeffrey Okudah, CB, Ohio St
  • Jedrick Wills Jr, OT, Alabama
  • Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville

Chargers at #6:  If the Redskins acquire this pick, this is the player that the 136 mock drafts project as the most likely selection:

  • Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville

Jaguars at #9: If the Redskins acquire this pick, this is the player that the 136 mock drafts project as the most likely selection:

  • Jedrick Wills Jr, OT, Alabama

Raiders at the #12: If the Redskins acquire this pick, this is the player that the 136 mock drafts project as the most likely selection:

  • Isaiah Simmons, LB, Clemson

Trading down affords the Redskins the opportunity to fill more of the holes on the roster, but at the cost an outstanding pass rusher. It would give the team a shot a one of the top tier tackles such as Wills, Becton, Andrew Thomas, or Tristan Wirfs.

I’ll have another update on mocks later in the month after the start of free agency.
