Training Camp – Week 1

The first week of training camp is in the books. Here is a brief recap of the week 1 highlights.
Roster Moves
- Samuel Cosmi – Physically Unable to Performm(PUP) List
- Terry McLaurin – Did Not Report (DNR) List to PUP
- Waived RB Michael Wiley
- Signed WR Tay Martin
- Signed OLB Von Miller
McLaurin held out the first week (and was place on the DNR list), seeking a new contract extension from the team. This has been his stance since missing the mandatory minicamp in June. In a somewhat surprising move, he showed up late Saturday and was placed on the PUP list under a lingering ankle injury from last season. One wonders if this is a ruse while a new contract extension is finalized.

One of the first highlights was Jayden Daniels dropping a dime to Deebo Samuel over Tyler Owens, who also has been having a good camp:

Ja’Corey Brooks
The undrafted rookie caught 3 touchdowns in Wednesday practice session. If Brooks can show production in the preseason games, he might be a real find.

Free agents show up to camp in very good condition, which is a reflection of the culture head coach Dan Quinn has set for the team.

Trey Amos
The Commanders were excited to draft Amos to play opposite Marshon Lattimore so Mike Sainristil can move back to slot corner. Amos has looked like the real deal so far in camp.

He finally seems healthy and is moving around like when he was at his peak with the Saints. With all the good wide receivers in the division, having two good outside cornerbacks is imperative for the Commanders.
